Cutting a go-to-market cycle from 9 months to 6.5

Redesigned the go-to-market process for one of Indonesia’s largest bag manufacturers with Lean value stream mapping. New products now reach the market 28% sooner.

Outcome
−28% time to market, 9 → 6.5 months
Context
Client: one of Indonesia’s largest bag manufacturers
Time to market, in months, before and after the redesign.

The problem

Taking a new product from idea to market took nine months, and the goal was to get new products out faster.

The method

Value stream mapping follows a product through every step of the process and separates the time that adds value from the time it spends waiting, in handoffs, or in rework. I used it to map the go-to-market process end to end and redesigned it around the delays the map exposed.

The result

Time to market dropped from 9 months to 6.5 months, a 28% reduction. I later turned the approach into two talks on how HR and process design can speed up a launch.
